AUBURN---According to annual Campaign Finance Records filed with the Alabama Secretary of State's office, Rep. Mike Hubbard (R-Auburn) was the top fundraiser among all Members of the Alabama House of Representatives. The report covers the time period from the last election in 2006 through December 31, 2009.
Hubbard, the House Minority Leader and Chairman of the Alabama Republican Party, raised $139,303 for his campaign and reported a total of $225,383 cash on hand. Both amounts exceed those reported by all other House Members.
"I hope my fundraising numbers clearly indicate that I am focused on more than just my work as Chairman of the Alabama Republican Party and our Campaign 2010 effort to take over the Legislature," Hubbard said. "Since all politics is local, I am also keeping a keen eye on my own backyard and taking nothing for granted.
"In 2006, my political enemies spent over $500,000 trying to defeat me," Hubbard continued. "I am extremely grateful for the support I've received so far, but there is no question I will need even more help as this election season unfolds. I look forward to sharing my plans for legislative campaign successes, including supporting my fellow Republican House Members, electing Republicans in open seat and challenge races as well as my own re-election to the Alabama House."
Hubbard was first elected to the Alabama House of Representatives in 1998. He has served as the House Minority Leader since 2005 and Alabama Republican Party Chair since 2007.
