Birmingham, AL – The Alabama Republican Party's "Red, White and Blue" dinner, held Friday evening February 5th, set a Party record for both attendance and money raised. Party officials view the record crowd as a positive sign for Alabama Republicans heading into a critical election year.
An enthusiastic crowd of over 700 Republicans assembled in the ballroom of the Renaissance Hotel in Montgomery to hear from Alabama Governor Bob Riley along with the evening's keynote speaker, Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty.
Rep. Mike Hubbard (R-Auburn), Chairman of the Alabama Republican Party, announced to the crowd that the event had raised in excess of $100,000 for the ALGOP.
“Generally our dinners range in attendance between 400 and 500, so with this large of a crowd, there is no doubt the conservative movement is wide open in Alabama,” Hubbard said.
“Governor Pawlenty and Governor Riley both delivered exciting messages that energized the crowd and set us on a path for potential historic victories in November. There are major differences between Democrats and Republicans, both in Washington and Alabama, and we intend to make that fact known. Alabama is already one of the reddest states in the nation, and our goal is to make it even redder.”
